Mayor Kevin Johnson won't appeal judge's ruling in First Amendment case

Late Thursday, an attorney for Ballard Spahr, the law firm representing Mayor Kevin Johnson pro bono, confirmed with SN&R that Johnson will not be appealing the judge’s July 8 ruling.

The ruling, which came approximately a year after Johnson sued SN&R to keep hundreds of emails secret, ruled that the majority of those messages and documents didn’t meet the standard for attorney-client privilege as Johnson had tried to claim.

The documents should be made available to SN&R by this coming Monday, July 18.
