Sacramento native (and literary genius) Joan Didion makes fashion house debut

he French fashion house Celine just announced its latest campaign featuring Sacramento native Joan Didion as its gorgeous model.

The campaign’s just-unveiled inaugural ad features an image of Didion (at left) dressed in a classic black turtleneck, statement pendant necklace and like-a-boss oversized shades.

It should come as no surprise, actually.  Celine is currently run by Phoebe Philo who is according to Vogue magazine, a longtime fan of the now 80-year-old Pulitzer Prize winner’s 1970s-era style.

(See photos below for a previous campaign that shows past proof of Philo’s love of all things Didion).

So essentially Joan Didion has already won 2015 before the rest of us even have had the chance to shake off our post-holiday hangovers.

Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to go dig up my copy of Play it as it Lays and don my Ray-Bans and cheapo Gap turtleneck as homage to one of my favorite writers.
