Arden Park Roots' manager severely injured in explosion

Sad news: Arden Park Roots’ manager, booker and friend Josh Dickel was injured earlier this week “in a fire and/or gas explosion,” according to a Gofundme.com campaign created to help raise funds for his medical bills.

In a tearful video statement released earlier today (view the post here on the Arden Park Roots Facebook page), APR frontman Tyler Campbell explained that Dickel is currently in a medically induced coma. He has third-degree burns on about 40-percent of his body and will be hospitalized for months, according to the Gofundme site. He also was the sole bread-winner in his household and has no insurance.

I interviewed Dickel and Campbell for a story on the Sacramento reggae-rock scene last year. They’re both overwhelmingly kind people who work hard to support Sacto’s music scene. Dickel told me he tries to book local bands on Arden Park Roots’ shows all over California to help them gain more exposure.

Obviously, it was incredibly sad to hear this news. The following video of an Arden Park Roots song is dedicated to you, Josh. Hopefully, when you wake up, you’ll find that Sacramento will be standing by you and reaching out to help you and your family.
