Graham Sobelman is launching his own record label. And just like his popular Sacramento cabaret show of the same name (which will be revived later this year, he told SN&R), he’s calling it Graham-a-Rama. The veteran Sacramento musical director and musical-theater producer paired with another theater veteran and musician, Maggie Hollinbeck, for the label’s debut album, Another Shade of Blue. 

A cover of the entire 1971 Joni Mitchell album, Blue, it’s the first in a series of Graham-A-Rama record label releases; and it comes with a launch party next Sunday, May 11. Also on Another Shade: drummer Alfonso Portela; bassist Kellen Garcia; cellist Tim Stanley; vocalists Hannah Kile and Nanci Zoppi; and multi-instrumentalist Matt Baxter, who also handled the album’s recording, mixing and mastering.

Featuring live music and special guests, the release party starts at 7 p.m. at New Helvetia Theatre, 1028 R Street. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at http://bluerelease.brownpapertickets.com.
