Ace of Spades takes over Assembly

Things at K Street’s newest music venue, Assembly, just got … newer.

Ace of Spades will be taking over shows at the Randy Paragary-Bob Simpson nightspot near the corner of K and Tenth streets.

Ace will be doing its first gig tonight, the 103.5 FM-sponsored Olly Murs show.

“Very stoked on this,” Ace co-owner Eric Rushing wrote in an email this afternoon. “Bret and I have actively seeking a smaller room to complement Ace since the first year Ace opened and have looked at dozens or rooms and options but nothing made sense until now.”

He says the new Assembly under Ace direction will be the same format as their original Ace of Spades venue, near R and 15th streets—harder rock, metal and hardcore, plus hip-hop and beats—“as well as comedy or any other type of event that may present itself,” he added.
